SSIA stands for South Suburban Ice Arena, but this facility has been converted into a 4 court pickleball facility after the new SS Hockey facility opened on County Line Road that features both pickleball and archery. It features a hard court tennis surface, rollaway temp nets, beverage/snack machines and plenty of space between divided courts (via nets vs. fences). Lighting is very good and on par with any private facility such as 3rd shot drop, Epic, Parker Racquet Club, and the Pickleball Pubs in town. Painted lines are now augmented with tape for better visibility. Rates vary by season, but start at $5 (District Residents) and $7 (non-district) for 2 hour drop in sessions. Check the calendar for hours of operation, and scheduled sessions on their web site, or to book your own court time. Also features a few ping pong tables - paddles available for free at the desk.

The locker rooms need updating and cleaned more often. The new owner of the pro shop is awesome! Great skate sharpening. The building is a little dated. With that being said...If you ask any hockey player anytime you can get on the ice, life is good!

Great practical place for hockey (probably figure skating as well). Two rinks with basic bleachers (North Rink was heated). As a spectator, I can't speak to the locker rooms, but I heard that at least one didn't have a bathroom. Spectator bathroom was nice. Sport Shop was average but there were some sweet deals on gently used items. I went in the back way, so perhaps there is more to the facility than I know?

The prices here are decent $8 for public skate. Skate rental is a separate price. They offer discounts but you will need a "resident Id". The quality of the ice rink its self is what you would expect from this type of place....not great, but serviceable.

My son age 5 is learning to skate with hopes of playing Hockey in near future. This facility will close soon as a brand new will open in a couple weeks. We have 30min sessions every saturday for 8 weeks. Today was the first of these. I was impressed with the instructor of his 8 kid group. She was very thorough and easy for the kids to understand. Looking forward to another 7 weeks with high hopes we will be skating at hockey level
